Over the past 16 years the Palmer Township Kiwanis Club has awarded 116 scholarships with a total value of $55,000. The money for the awards is raised by the members of club through its various fundraising events. Below is the process which must be followed to apply for one of this year's scholarships.

Eligibility

The Palmer Kiwanis Club offers scholarships to qualified 2009 graduating seniors of Easton Area High School, Wilson High School, Notre Dame, and Career Institute of Technology.  Applicants from the high schools with Key Clubs (Easton, Wilson, and Notre Dame) must be active members of Key Club and planning to attend a college or pursue higher education in an approved technical, skilled or trade school.

Inasmuch as CIT does not have a Key Club, one applicant must either be planning to pursue college or a technical education, as above; and the other applicant be planning to enter the business world.  In the latter case, the financial assistance would be used for tools and equipment, or possibly an apprentice program.

Standards

Key Club applicants will be selected based on participation in their Key Club, extracurricular school and community activities, and academics.

CIT selections will be based on evaluations done by teachers and staff at CIT.

Awards

There will be a maximum of two scholarships given per high school. In 2009 the value of each scholarship will be $1,000.

To Apply

Application forms for Key Club members are available in the Guidance Office at each High School or can be downloaded from this web site or fill out the application online and print it out. Completed forms must include a letter of recommendation from the Guidance Counselor or a teacher. If you wish to include a letter from your employer or community activities organizer, this will be accepted. A copy of the high school transcript must be included. Each completed application must be returned to the Guidance Office no later than noon, March 14, 2008. The Kiwanis Liaison, or a designated assistant, will obtain the completed application from the Guidance Office when notified that the files are ready.

CIT applicants should make their request for consideration through the CIT School Administration.

It should be emphasized that the original application, plus four copies, must be completed for each application prior to turning the files over to the Kiwanis Liaison.
